As per the IRDA guide lines room rent eligibilty depands on the helath insurance plan some insurance plan capped the room rent with percentage of the amount if a policy has such cappings for room rent then insurance amount will be pay accordingly, e.g if a insurance plan has 1% amount per day is restricted for normal room and 2% of ICU per day and sum insured is 1 lac then insured is eligible for 1000 rupees per day for normal and 2000 per for ICU then your other charges such as nursing,Consultation charges,OT charges,Investigation charges proportionately equal to your room rent type and this capping depends on the plan which you purchased from the insurance policy.because all other bill charges will be paid according to the room rent category opted by the patient.if a insured opted higher room rent from his eligibility then the difference amount of the room rent cost and proportionately other cost also has to be bear by the insured only.
