If baby coverages are there in the policy then baby coverages will be apply from the day one of the baby born, which means baby will be covered from the date of birth of the baby subject to the intimation to insurance company for baby Addition In case the baby has not yet been given a name, baby can be added as ‘Baby of (Mothers Name)’. In such cases, while the coverage will become effective once the data is endorsed by the insurer; do ensure that you get the actual name of the baby also subsequently registered with the insurance company once you have formally given a name. Any claim ( we truly hope not, for any child ) tomorrow will result in hospital records having the actual name of the baby while the insurer records will have baby mentioned as ‘Baby of (Mothers Name)’ leading to the claim not being passed
