The empanelled hospital that you have chosen will treat you without asking for any deposit or payment of bills up to the guaranteed amount approved by TPA. However, the hospital may ask for a nominal amount as a deposit as there would be few non-payable items by the TPA as per the policy for items like syringes, gloves and a few other items which fall under this category. Also, If you are required to purchase medicines or investigations done outside the hospital, kindly obtain a proper cash memo or receipt for the payment made to you. So that the TPA can view the charges and provide reimbursement if need be.
Why will the hospital ask for a deposit amount even if the treatment is cashless?
Certain charges such as telephone, internet usage, food & beverages for the visitors, barber or any other expenses including NME items are not covered in your insurance policy if you have obtained such services from the hospital please pay for the same directly to the hospital. The hospital may ask you for an initial security deposit to cover the non-payable expenses mentioned above.
